Cornelius head shot

Max Cornelius will make his BRDC F4 debut at Donington Park later this month, after securing a deal with Chris Dittmann Racing.

Cornelius, 19 from Trowbridge in Wiltshire, is a former runner-up in the Autosport Young Guns category in 2010, securing seven wins from 14 races, as well as five pole positions and nine podiums overall.

His success landed him test drives with the Carlin and West Tec Formula 3 teams, impressing both with his speed and maturity.

Prior to his Young Guns success he was a prolific karter, winning 18 races from 26 starts in 2008, claiming the Midlands Mini Max, and Clay Pigeon Mini Max Championships in the process, before stepping up to KF3 in 2009 with a best finish of second place at Glan y Gors.

Following a successful test with Chris Dittmann Racing at Snetterton earlier this month, Cornelius has signed up for the final round, with a view to also competing in the series next year.

“I’m really looking forward to racing in F4 at Donington Park,” Cornelius enthused. “I tested with the car and the team at Snetterton two weeks ago and I made really quick progress, built up my lap times and got to know the car and the team really well. I’m really impressed with the car, especially the paddle shift, and with a bit more testing under my belt leading up to the event, I’m feeling really confident of my chances.”

Team Principal Chris Dittmann is very enthusiastic of good results. “It’s fantastic news to confirm Max in the car for Donington. We’ve been speaking with him for a while and we were able to test with him at Snetterton recently. It was his first time in a car for three years, but he got up to pace really quickly and I think it’s going to be a package with a lot of potential for Donington Park. We can’t wait to get out there!”

Testing for Chris Dittman Racing in preparation for the F4 finally.

“I’m really looking forward to being able to race again after an enforced break of three years and the BRDC Formula 4 Championship is the perfect opportunity. I tested for Chris Dittmann Racing at Snetterton recently and really enjoyed the experience. The class is the perfect platform for young drivers looking to make the grade and it’s great to see MSV’s Jonathan Palmer and his team giving us such an opportunity.” said Max.
